Government must prepare a government regulation in place of the law to anticipate vacant leadership at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), seeing that KPK will certainly be paralyzed if Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR) neglected to choose 5 from 10 candidates to lead KPK in 2015-2019, or if there is a deadlock in selection after the deadline on Dec. 16.

Fit and proper test phase on eight candidate leaders for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) had commenced at Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR). On December 4, the candidates participate in a paper test in front of the Commission. The fit and proper test will took place for three days from Dec. 14 to 16.

The social aid scandal

The social aid program (bansos) recently returned to the limelight. As Indonesia approached the first simultaneous regional elections, a number of provinces as well as regents and municipalities merrily increased their bansos budgets, in droves. Indeed, the regent of Konawe Utara in Sulawesi Tenggara upped their bansos as high as 1,884 percent.

Ethical Breach Allegation by DPR Chairman

The Chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR) Setya Novanto returned to the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Sudirman Said reported Novanto to the Parliamentary Court of Honor (MKD) for using the President's name in negotiation of a permit for PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI). Said remarked that Novanto promised a settlement about Freeport's contract extension.

Whatever Happened to KPK Commissioners Selection?

The fate of the candidate commissioners for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is still left in uncertainty. Until now, the House of Representatives (DPR) has yet to choose a date to hold the fit and proper test for the candidates.
