In the trails of his involvement on bribery currently under investigation by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Governor of North Sumatera Gatot Pujo Nugroho is also accused by the Interior Ministry of abusing his authority. It was revealed that in last February the Ministry had informed Gatot regarding a special examination regarding the case.

Head of Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) Commissioner General Budi Waseso insisted that the defamation case involving two Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) activists, Emerson Yuntho and Adnan Topan Husodo, is not a press offense. Accordingly, the police will move forward in accordance with the Criminal Law.

Selection Committee (Pansel) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Leadership announced 194 names of candidates who qualified for the administrative requirements out of 611 registrants. Furthermore, the Pansel asked for public response about track records of the announced names to be included as consideration materials for selection.
