The G20 Conference in Bali earlier this month, which addressed international bribery and a number of bribery cases involving politicians that are handled by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), reminds me of an old tale about pirates that were arrested by Alexander the Great’s forces.

Kasus tersebut mungkin ada yang kejadiannya sebelum tahun 2004, namun sempat diproses dan muncul serta diungkap oleh masyarakat pada kurun waktu tersebut. Tercatat 2,7 triliun rupiah masuk ke kantong koruptor.
The fund for this project is provided by the World Bank and the State Budget (pure in rupiah). The project consists of four stages, starting from 1996/1997 budget year up until 1999/2000. Estimated fund for one budget year is US$30 million. (Or Rp 300 billion rupiah with Rp 10,000 exchange rate per US$). Total fund for the four budget years is around Rp 1.2 trillion.
As a place for people to earn justice, it should be that the court’s verdict must be based on the legitimate law and the sense of justice. Nevertheless, corruption practices in the court that is known as the court mobsters make the court’s verdict becomes distorted, because they not only put it on the base of the law and justice, but also on the base of money. As the result, trial process needs a long time, complicated and expensive. And in turn, the law institutions cannot give any guarantee of the assurance of law so that its image falls down to the lowest point.
