“Draft Law Limit KPK Lifespan for 12 Years”

The existence of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will be limited to only 12 years, according to a revision draft of the KPK Law that was circulated among journalists. “KPK is established for a period of 12 years since the date this Law is applied,” says article 5 of the draft.

Several members of the House of Representatives (DPR) proposed a Draft Law on National Pardon. The draft suggest that convicts of corruption and money laundering to be granted pardon by the state.

KPK is suggested to stop investigating corruption cases that implicates law enforcement apparatus. Furthermore, parliamentarians also suggested that KPK stop handling cases where the state loss is valued under Rp 50 billion.
