Fredrich Yunadi’s Verdict

Two weeks ago the judges of Jakarta Corruption Court verdicted Fredrich Yunadi, former lawyer of Setya Novanto, to 7 years in prison. In addition to the prison verdict, Fredrich is also required to pay a fine of Rp 500 million in lieu of 5 months in prison.

Preventing Embezzlement of Special Autonomy Funds


The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested Governor of Aceh, Irwandi Yusuf for alleged bribery, in the Hall of the Governor of Aceh on Tuesday (3/7). From the results of the raid operation, KPK seized evidence in the form of money amounting to Rp 500 million originally provided by the Regent of Bener Meriah, Ahmadi to Irwandi Yusuf. The KPK stated that the money was part of a commitment fee amounting to 8%, which is a share for officials in the Aceh Provincial Government, of any project financed by the Special Autonomy Fund (Otsus).

Conflict of Interest in RKUHP Debate

After meeting with the head of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo has put on hold plans to roll out the draft changes to the Criminal Code (RKUHP), which was set to take place on the 17th August this year. The delay in implementing the new laws has been brought about by pressure from the KPK, with the Commission concerned that the changes will trivialise their work and limit their scope for eradicating corruption.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) again summoned witnesses in the case of corruption of the construction of the Institute of Domestic Governance (IPDN) campus in Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province, on May 12, 2018. The four witnesses examined were Raden Pedi Lestario as project head from PT Hutama Karya, Jusuf Sitorus and Kurniati Evilia as staff of PT Hutama Karya, and Zaim Susilo as former staff of PT Hutama Karya.

Eradication of corruption necessarily requires the commitment of the state organizers. Although there are many actors in the fight against corruption, the government's commitment as the center of the source of policies and direction of eradicating corruption must be measurable.

Of course there are many ways of measuring the strength of the commitment to eradicate corruption. One of them is to see how many commitments have been fulfilled or implemented as a condition to the criteria of a succesful country in terms of eradication of corruption.

Kala Korporasi Terjerat Korupsi

Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi (KPK) telah menetapkan dua korporasi, PT Nindya Karya dan PT Tuah Sejati, sebagai tersangka korupsi, dua pekan lalu. Mereka disangka terlibat korupsi proyek pembangunan dermaga bongkar di kawasan perdagangan bebas dan pelabuhan bebas Sabang, Aceh, selama 2006-2011. Dari nilai proyek sebesar Rp 793 miliar, nilai kerugian negara mencapai Rp 313 miliar. Dugaan penyimpangan yang dilakukan adalah penunjukan langsung, rekayasa dalam penyusunan harga perkiraan sendiri, dan penggelembungan harga.

One Year After the Assault on Novel Baswedan

April 11, 2018 is exactly 1 year after the assault against KPK investigator Novel Baswedan. A year ago, in the early hours of the morning, Novel was attacked by two unknown motorists who splashed acid on Novel's face. The incident resulted in damage to Novel's eye, which until now still has to undergo a series of medical treatments in Singapore.

Rushed Appointment of KPK’s Deputy for Enforcement

KPK finally has a new Deputy for Enforcement after this position was vacated by Inspector General (Pol) Heru Winarko, who was inaugurated as Head of BNN. The new Deputy for Enforcement is Brigadier General Firli who previously served as the Chief of NTB Regional Police. The process of appointment, from the vacancy to inauguration, is relatively short, i.e. from the beginning of March to the first week of April 2018.
