Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR) will soon hold fit and proper tests on candidates for commissioner of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The deletion process in Commission III will determine the future and the next direction of the prominent anti-graft body.

ICW will directly ask President Joko Widodo not to endorse 3 out of 8 candidates for KPK commissioners who were passed by the Selection Committee for KPK leadership (Pansel KPK). Based on ICW's trackings, these three candidates lacks integrity, commitment to anti-corruption movement, and commitment to KPK's own presence.

Member of the Civil Society Coalition (KMS) for Anti-Corruption and Coordinator of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI), Julius Ibrani, suspected that Pansel KPK lack vision and insight on the contemporary problems of corruption in Indonesia. These inadequacies caused some problems during the selection process of KPK commissioners.

The Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) searched four quarters at the office of Pertamina Foundation in Simprug, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta. The searching was related to an alleged corruption case in Corporate Social Responsibility program implementation for PT Pertamina by Pertamina Foundation.

It appears that public enmity is not enough to stem the parliamentarians lust to score on the construction mega-project for the new houses of the parliament in Senayan. During a plenary session yesterday (9/1), they agreed on a point in DPR Strategic Plan for 2015-2019 about procurement of representative office buildings.
