Prosecutors from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed that they will unveil names of members of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) who were implicated in the corruption of hajj funds. The names will be revealed during trial hearings.

Four suspects implicated in alleged corruption at the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) of East Java were arrested by the Attorney General Office (AGO) of Surabaya, yesterday, after the police handed over case files to the AGO.

KPK seeks to repel attempts to incapacitate the anti-graft body through the inclusion of articles about corruption crimes (tipikor) within the Draft of Criminal Code (RUU KUHP). Revisions are currently being deliberated at DPR RI. These articles could undermine all lex specialist authority that is wielded by KPK through its separate law and in the processreduce corruption crimes from an extraordinary crime to a common crime.

The provinces North Sumatera and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) are recorded as regions with largest number of corruption cases. Based on data collected by ICW during the period of January-June 2015 about corruption cases being pursued by law enforcement agencies, each of the two provinces have 24 corruption cases.
