The Selection Committee for leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) guaranteed that eight of the selected names do not have past legal entanglements. According to Yenti, eight candidates that are being recommended by the Selection Committee (Pansel KPK) will represent the government as well as civil society, as mandated by law. Pansel KPK will submit their names to President Joko Widodo on September 2.

The Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) recently announced that a number of KPK leader candidates have been named as suspects. Widespread rumor has it that Interim Deputy Charmian of KPK Johan Budi is the name in question. However, this was denied by Bareskrim Director on Economic and Special Crimes, Brigadier General Victor Simanjuntak.
