Former adviser to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Abdullah Hehamahua, lauded the capacity of six KPK employees that joined the race for KPK leaders. He attested that these candidates, each of whom had served for than five years at the anti-graft body, have mastered the various aspects of anti-corruption enforcement as well as its preventive aspects.

The Press Council is looking to find a resolution on a case of alleged defamation reported by Professor of Criminal Law at Padjadjaran University Romli Atmasasmita against Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) activists within the realm of press ethics since the case was based on press coverage. To follow up on the case, the Press Council will coordinate with the Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim).

The House of Representatives (DPR) appear to no longer pursue their proposal on constituency-based aspiration fund. Chairman of DPR Budget Committee, Ahmadi Noor Supit, said that discussions on aspiration fund could not take place within the State Income and Expenditure Budget Draft (RAPBN) of 2016 since the draft could only be proposed by the executive.

KPK is confident that the panel of judges at South Jakarta District Court will reject the pre-trial appeal filed by the former Mayor of Makassar, llham Arief Sirajuddin. KPK hopes that the judges that preside over the hearing will make their decision based on existing facts.

RI Police summoned KPK investigator Novel Baswedan to continue their investigation of an alleged prisoner mistreatment case in 2004. Novel is scheduled for questioning today as the police entered the final stage of their investigation since the files are almost complete and will soon be delivered to the Attorney General Office (AGO).

The measures taken by Bareskrim to investigate a number of corruption cases are being questioned. Political observers are suspicious that the Police were taking over cases only to prevent them from being investigated by KPK.
