“Press Council To Be Questioned”

In order to clarify the position and involvement of the media regarding the alleged defamation case as reported by Romli Atmasasmita, the Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) investigators had planned to question representatives from the Press Council as an expert witness. In the meantime, the police are expected to consider the ethical deliberation results conducted by the Press Council.

The Selection Committee for Leaders of Corruption Eradication Commission (Pansel KPK), along with 36 assessors, completed the third round of selection where candidates were filtered based on potential, competence, and integrity assessment results. Pansel KPK intended to find capable and experienced candidates to lead the anti-graft institution.

Jakarta Metro Police will examine the General Director of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Commerce, Partogi Pangaribuan, as witness to bribery and gratification for a loading and unloading permit of goods at the port. Today, Partogi is scheduled for questioning to clarify investigation findings of money worth US$ 42,000 (Rp 565,5 million) and Sin$ 4,000 (Rp 39,4 million) during a police search in his office.

KPK is coordinating with the Attorney General's Office to discuss the possibility of taking over the case about corruption of social aid that implicates North Sumatra Governor Gatot Pujo Nugroho, recently named as suspect by KPK. The coordination was intended to organize an effective investigation at KPK and avoid entanglement with other law enforcement agencies.
