“VP Kalla criticized for not supporting KPK”

The Indonesia Corruption Watch’s (ICW) anti-corruption activists criticize Vice President Jusuf Kalla for not showing the attitude of supporting the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Kalla stated his support for Budi Waseso for not having his official wealth report (LHKPN) submitted. ICW deputy coordinator, Ade Irawan, asked Kalla to show his commitment and support in fighting corruption, the way President Joko Widodo does.
“KPK remains strong without advisor”

ICW researcher Emerson Yuntho said, ideally, there should be an advisor to KPK, but it’s not necessary in this remaining four months of period. According to Emerson, KPK has an established system and work pattern, so they will remain strong even without an advisor.

Former Bank Indonesia senior deputy governor Miranda Goeltom walked free on Tuesday after serving a three-year sentence at the Tangerang Women’s Penitentiary for bribery. She was sentenced by the Jakarta Corruption Court for bribing lawmakers to elect her as senior deputy governor at the central bank in 2004.
