"President Unaware of Revision Plan"

According to the President's communication team, the President is unaware of DPR's plan to revise Law No. 30 of 2002 on KPK. Meanwhile, KPK doubted that President actually approved the revision plan as submitted by Minister Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly, because if Jokowi really sanctioned the revision, then his proclaimed commitment to empower KPK would be squarely in question. Several points within the revised draft could potentially impair KPK in performing its mandate, including involvement of Attorney General Office in all KPK prosecutions, establishment of a supervisory board, even assignment of stand-in commissioner if any one of them is absent.
 

"Bureaucratic Corruption Figure Still High"

According to the World Bank, Indonesia's ranking in global governance in 2014 is still low, occupy the 109th spot out of 175 surveyed countries. This is apparently a result of the massive corruption in public bureaucracy. The ranking was based on global governance, representation and accountability (48%), political stability and extent of violence (28%), government effectiveness (45%), legislation quality (46%), rule of law (36%) and corruption control (31%).

Acting Chairman of KPK, Taufiequrrachman Ruki, wants the Commission to have authority to cease an investigation at any given time, or SP3. According to Ruki, KPK need this authority in case during investigation, there are factors that required them to halt investigation. However, according to Acting Deputy Chairman Indriyanto Seno Adji, there's no urgency to rush new privileges.

According to Vice Chairman of DPR, Fahri Hamzah, to deny the proposal for parliamentarians aspiration fund is to deny the constitution and violate a legislator's oath of office. According to the Law on MPR, DPR, DPD and DPRD (MD-3) and the oath of office, it is the obligation of parliamentarians to defend their constituents. And according to Fahri, to reject the aspiration funds means is to deny a mechanism to carry out the aspirations of constituents.
