“Suryadharma Ali gets light sentence”

Former Minister of Religion, Suryadharma Ali, was sentenced to six years in prison minus detainment term and a fine of ID 300m, equal to another 3 months of prison time, by the panel of judges at Jakarta Corruption Court. Suryadharma was found guilty of corruption of hajj funds and minister's operational funds (DOM). The sentence was far too lenient than the charges pursued by Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutors that sought an 11-years sentence.

Banten Governor Rano Karno was requested to expose a request of IDR 10b from Banten Provincial Representative Council (DPRD) to endorse local budget allocation at the council to setup Bank Banten. The request was brought up by a member of DPRD Ade Rossi Chairunnisa during a questioning at KPK.

Irenius Adii and Setiady Jusuf, suspects of bribery for member of Commission VII at the House of Representatives (DPR), Dewie Yasin Limpo, commenced their first trial at Jakarta Corruption Court. Irenius and Setiady are accused of giving Sin$ 177,700 of cash for Dewie in her capacity as a state actor.
