“KPK to focus target on big fish”

KPK, the Corruption Eradication Commission, will focus their efforts to crackdown on heavyweight corruptors. Among the sectors under scrutiny will be taxes and money laundering. This is in line with the government's request that KPK expand their money laundering investigations.

Former Minister of Religion, Suryadharma Ali, will have his sentence read today at the Corruption Court. Prosecutors maintained that Suryadharma was proven to have committed corruption in organizing the hajj pilgrimage at his ministry. During his tenure as Minister in 2010-2014, Surya allegedly abused his authority when appointing officers for the Hajj Pilgrimage Committee and the Amirul Hajj Assistants.

KPK named Dudung Purwadi as a new suspect in corruption of the Athletes Compound and Multipurpose Building for the South Sumatera Provincial Administration in 2010-2011. Chief of KPK Public Relation Bureau, Yuyuk Andrianti, explained that they have summoned several witnesses in investigation of the case.
